Public Consultation – Food Regulatory System – Strategic Planning for 2023-2026

Page last updated: 12 August 2022

At the 16 December 2021 Food Ministers’ Meeting, Ministers endorsed the implementation of a new strategic planning cycle to support priority-setting that is evidence based and informed by stakeholders. The development of, and consultation on, a horizon scan that captures the current landscape is the first step in the process. The time is right for a strategic reset and you’re invited to contribute to the conversation.

Why We Are Consulting

You play an important role in the Food Regulatory System (the System) that is vital in ensuring a safe and healthy food supply across Australia and New Zealand and in taking our high-quality food to the world.

A key feature of the System is shared accountability, with all stakeholders responsible for the mitigation of risks.

Your feedback is sought to shape the future strategic direction of the System that will be set by Food Ministers.

Public Consultation

Consultation was open from 27 June 2022 to 7 August 2022 via the Australian Government Department of Health Consultation Hub.

The outcomes of this consultation will be provided to Food Ministers in late 2022, as part of setting the future strategic directions for the System.
