This framework guides the allocation of Australian food business sectors into categories, based on:

  • their likelihood of contributing to foodborne disease
  • the potential size of that contribution.

This allocation:

  • allows for appropriate risk management of those business sectors
  • guides policy decisions on food safety management in Australia.

This framework is not for general use by food businesses.
